Condolence From: Carol & Wayne Obertein
Condolence: Grandma Ida will be so missed. I so enjoyed the small trips we would make. My favorite was when she was in her late 90s and we took her to where her parents homesteaded north of Harrison. We found the original school house that she attended as a school girl. She showed us the road she walked to and from school. She told us of her memories as a young girl when she went into town by herself, spending the night in the woods all alone, hearing the wildcats screeching in the night. That would have been so scary for a child. But if anyone could have done it, it would have been Grandma Ida. I don't believe she ever feared anything. The funniest memory of her was while we were looking for her homestead out in the middle of nowhere we all had to go to the bathroom. I offered to take her to a toilet. She would have nothing to do with that as she walked into a farmers field and dropped her drawers. I loved her stories!!! And she had a lot of them. She is now in her heavenly home with all her family that has passed before her. Can you imagine the celebration she is having with them?
