Obituary for Tim Lucille Raymond

Tim (Myrtle) Lucille Raymond
Tim was born on April 23, 1930, in Lansing, Michigan to Helen Hunt (Dorriell) and John Hunt, and she died on August 23, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Jim (Betty) Hunt, and her husband of 57 years, Richard Raymond. She is survived by six children, Sandi Partridge of Lake, Judy (Joe) Salminen of Lansing, Debbie Raymond of Lake, Diane (Jeff) Braley of Lake, Jim (Gladys) Raymond of Okemos, and John Raymond of Farwell. She is also survived by her brother, Jon (Veronica) Hunt of Cheboygan and a special cousin, Mary Anne Hines of Florida.
Tim had 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She grew up in Lansing and raised her children there until the family moved to Lake in 1978 after a house fire. She was primarily a homemaker but worked at General Motors for a period of time, and also in the admitting department of St. Lawrence Hospital in Lansing. After moving to Lake, she worked as a cashier at Walmart in Mt. Pleasant for several years. She had many hobbies, from sewing, to making jewelry and ceramics, raising dogs and tropical fish, and tracking genealogy, to name a few. She loved animals of all kinds, but especially dogs and cats. She was most content when one of them jumped up in her lap (regardless of their size), and wanted to be petted. Tim was happiest when her children and grandchildren came to visit, especially if they brought along some candy, donuts or Kentucky Fried Chicken. She definitely had a sweet tooth, and loved making desserts. Her home was often a welcome and safe refuge for whoever needed a place to stay temporarily. She had a sharp wit and sarcastic humor, probably a necessity when raising six children. She never thought it was too late to do something, and obtained her high school GED when she was in her 50’s, and started taking computer classes so she could keep up with her kids and grandkids.
Tim was baptized on April 21, 1957, and knew Jesus Christ as her Savior. The memorial service celebrating Tim’s life will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 2 at Lake of the Pines Clubhouse, 7257 Ashard Road, Lake, MI 48632. There will be visitation from 11:30 – 12:00 p.m. Pastor Gene Hockey of Bethany Baptist Church in Lake will preside at the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Clare County Animal Shelter, 4040 Hazel Road, PO Box 438, Harrison, MI 48625 in her memory.
The family is planning a COVID-friendly service and asks that guests who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 please wear a facial covering and observe social distancing.
