Ruth Ann Coombe – Age 66 of Clare, MI, passed away at her home on Saturday, February 12, 2022. Ruth, “Annie”, was born to parents Clarence and Jean (Putnam) Hawkins in Travis County, TX on April 19, 1955. Annie married Thomas Harry Coombe at Warner Memorial Church of God in Ferndale, MI on August 25, 1984. Annie was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church of Ferndale. She was also very actively involved in veteran’s services. She served as State President of The Military Order of the Cootie in 2004 and 2005, Post President of the Royal Oak VFW 1669, and 5th District President of the VFW in 2006. She enjoyed playing computer games and sewing.
Annie is survived by her husband of 37 years, Tom Coombe, children Jason Coombe of Coachella, CA, Kelly and Damian Leija of Harlingen, TX, and Tommi-Gene Poppert of Warren, MI, grandchildren Robin, Damian Jr., Maxamillian, Marius, Taylor, Hailey, Regina, and Lancel, a brother, Christopher and Kathy Hawkins, brother-in-law, Bill and Willa Coombe, as well as many other extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert “Bobby” Daniel Benton, her parents, Clarence and Jean Hawkins, and a brother, Greg Hawkins.
According to family’s wishes, a cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held later, date and location to be determined.
