Nancy Ann Dempsey- age 83 passed away in the early morning of Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at home in Farwell. Nancy was born on July 1, 1939 in Waterford NY to parents John and Virginia (Bishop) O’Brien, Sr. , one of five children. On April 11, 1959 she was married to Ivan Dempsey and together they raised three children. She worked for Dow Chemical, Farwell Area Schools, and Clare City Bakery. She and Ivan also owned a grocery store in Lake George. Nancy was an avid bird watcher, loved her squirrels, loved reading but most of all loved being a grandma. Nancy is survived by her three children; Mark Dempsey and wife Kathleen, Scott Dempsey, daughter Kristyn Smith and husband Todd, grandchildren; Sean Dempsey, Dana Dempsey and fiancé Peter, Bradley and wife Ellie Smith, Miranda and husband Brendan Smoluk, great-grandchildren; Liam, Sterling, Grayson, and Miller, brother Robert O’Brien, and sister Judy Jubak. She was preceded in death by her husband Ivan, her parents, and brothers William and Jack O’Brien. Honoring Nancy’s wishes a cremation has taken place.
