Obituary for Kay Ann Shuster

Kay Ann Shuster- age 80 of Farwell passed away on January 30, 2023 at MyMichigan Medical Center in Midland. Kay was born on December 4, 1942 in Saginaw to parents Howard James and Esther May (Bowers) Gallup. Kay and husband Jim were married October 26, 1974 and raised two daughters and one son, Richard. Kay kept busy working at various jobs but mainly as a homemaker. She liked to bowl, knit, crochet, read, and canned all the wonderful vegetables that Jim was growing in his garden. She loved flower gardening, traveling to the Upper Peninsula, and most of all loved spending summers at their cabin in Marion. Kay was an active member of Farwell United Methodist Church, belonging to United Methodist Women, and serving as the “Cookie Lady” and “Kid Shucker” for the kids in Junior Choir. She costumed the kids readying for their pageants and took off coats and dressed them back up with their coats before sending them back out into the cold. Kay leaves to cherish many wonderful memories her beloved husband Jim, her daughters; Theresa Brechtelsbauer and husband LeRoy of Harrison, Mary Ellen Shuster of Gladwin, two grandchildren; Staci and Stephanie Brechtelsbauer, two great-grandchildren; Dyllan Echelbarger, Sapphire Kreutzer, a brother Albert Gallup of Saginaw, and sister Ruth Blakely and husband Gerald of Alva Fl. She was preceded in death by husband Richard Leo Lickman, son Richard Leo Lickman, Jr. sister Carol Williamson, and sister-in-law Mary Gallup. A funeral is planned for Friday, February 10th, 2023 at 1PM at Farwell United Methodist Church. Pastor Ray Francis will officiate. Family and friends may visit at the church from 11AM until the time of service. Kay will be laid to rest in St. Cecelia Cemetery in Clare, MI.
