Obituary for Evelyn Louise Payne (Barlow)

Evelyn Louise (Barlow) Payne – age 90 of Lake, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022 at MyMichigan Medical Center in Midland. Evelyn was born on April 6, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan to parents Thomas Emmerson and Mary Alice (Lake) Barlow. She married Phillip Jason Payne on December 31, 1952 in Royal Oak, Michigan and together they raised five children. Evelyn was a Charter Member of Northwood Baptist Church in Royal Oak where she was a Pioneer Girl Leader and member of the Women’s Maranatha Circle. She loved to camp, fish, cook, bake, knit and sew. She enjoyed working with the ladies at First Baptist Church of Clare on mission projects.
She will be deeply missed by her son Russell Payne of Madison Heights, two daughters; Carol Kindred of Clinton Twp., and Gale Payne of Hazel Park, five grandchildren; Gene, Jason (Tracy), Jennifer (Bryan), Kate, Kenny (Jessie), and thirteen great grandchildren; Tyler (Chelsie), Karise, Deven, Jessie (Wesley), Maddison, Jason, Haley, Riley, Nathan, Andrew, Emma, Nicholas, and Julia. She is also survived by four great-great grandchildren; Ayden, Skyler, Viviana with Baby Jolly to make her appearance at any moment.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Phil, in 2017, two daughters, Mary in 2003 and Arlene in 2020, and granddaughter Angela in 2019.
A funeral service is planned for Sunday, November 13, 2022 at 1 PM at the First Baptist Church of Clare. Reverend Doug Blackwell will preside. Visitation will take place at the church on Sunday from noon until the time of service at 1 PM. Memorial considerations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Clare or The Gideons International.
