Laverty, Dale Albert – Dale Laverty was a beloved grandfather, father and husband during his 88 wonderful years of life. He passed away peacefully on December 8, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a year long illness.
Dale was born on February 1st, 1933, to parents John and Edna (Robison) Laverty in Farwell, MI. Dale graduated from Farwell High School in 1952. He was a proud American who answered his country’s call, having served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a proud member of the American Legion.
Dale worked at Holley Carburetor in Clare in his early career. He then worked for Dow Corning for 29 years before settling into retirement.
He married his love, Joyce C. Bailey on August 25, 1953, and spent 65 years happily married.
Dale enjoyed spending time with his family, especially outdoors. Many weekends were spent 4-wheeling and camping with his children and grandchildren. Later in life he enjoyed going for rides with Joyce in their Ranger. They wintered in Okeechobee, FL where they loved to take family and friends on pontoon rides to look for alligators.
Dale enjoyed traveling the world with Joyce and their lifelong friends Don and Louisa. They visited places like Russia, Machu Picchu, Sweden, Norway, China and so many more.
Always ready with a joke or a snappy one liner, Dale kept things lighthearted and kept his family laughing until the end. He and his sense of humor will be dearly missed by his children; Joel (Christine) of Clare, Darcy (Francee) of Arrington, Virginia, Stacey (Tracey) of Farwell, JoDee (Dennis) Hacker of Whitmore Lake, seven grandchildren; Ryan (Wendy) Hacker, Brandi (Paul) Bailie, Lucas (Andie) Laverty, Amanda Laverty, Charles Laverty, Christopher Laverty, Austin Laverty, great-grandchild James Bailie, step-great-grandchild Kodie Maxwell, step-great-great-grandchild Jessie Maxwell, sister-in-law Janet Tiedeman and husband Donald, and brother-in-law Bruce Bailey and wife Kim. His cat Bootsie will miss him as well. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce, his parents, and siblings.
